The index is structured as follows:

Starting from the first line (McWilliam of Monaghan) those family groups above are my maternal ancestors; those below paternal.

Apart from the McWilliams' each family group is defined by a woman ie. Clugston by my mother, Patricia Clugston; Charles & Henry by my maternal and paternal grandmothers, Maud Charles & Elsie Henry (see photograph in title) &c. I have very much more information about my paternal lines.
